1. How long does the course last?

SCC Courses are flexible and designed to fit around individuals’ commitments. Stand-alone sessions last one hour and are designed to give a light-touch introduction to different topics. Alternatively, the Accelerated and Extended courses are more in depth and last from 2 weeks to 1 month. For more information, click on the Courses link above.


2. What will I learn?

The SCC Curriculum is designed to introduce participants to the essential digital and soft skills that will support them in accessing online services and enhance their chances of finding employment or progressing onto further studies. For more information, click on the Courses link above.


3. How much does it cost to attend the course?

It is entirely free to attend SCC Academy, there are no tuition or course fees. You only need to cover the potential cost of traveling to the site yourself.


4. How can I enrol to the course?

Please visit our Expression of Interest page by clicking on the link above. After completing the form, a member of our team will contact you to discuss your options. 


5. What will I get at the end of the course?

Individuals completing the Accelerated or Extended courses will receive a personal report and a certificate stating that you have successfully completed the course and the skills that you have acquired during the course.

Qualifying participants may receive free internet and tablet computers upon meeting SCC Academy requirements.


6. Is SCC Academy accessible for people with disabilities?

Yes, it is. We have ramps on all entrances, designated parking for people with disabilities and a stair lift on the stairs inside the building.


7. Will I lose my benefits if I attend the course?

To ensure you will not lose your benefits, you must get the approval of your Work Coach. We will remind you to do so throughout the onboarding process.


8. Will you provide a free lunch?

Participants on the Accelerated course may be eligible for a free lunch, upon meeting SCC Academy requirements.


9. Can I bring my child or another family member with me to the course?

Unfortunately not. Children or family members are not allowed to come the course with you due to our safety and security measures, with the exception of the family members having enrolled and been accepted to the course as well.


10. Is the course conducted in person?

Yes, it is. SCC Academy believe that the best way to learn is with other people in a face-to-face setting. That’s why all of our courses and sessions are taught by qualified teachers in our state-of-the-art complex in Tyseley.


11. How can I get to the site? What is your address?

12. I don’t have a computer or internet at home, what can I do?

There will be no expectation to complete online work out of hours during the courses. However, after completing the Accelerated and Extended courses, SCC Academy will provide support documents by email to consolidate learners’ understanding. Qualifying individuals may receive free internet and tablet computers upon meeting SCC Academy requirements.
